Late Nite Catechism             Thu and Sat 8pm
Put The Nuns In Charge      Fri 8pm and Sat 5pm
Sunday School Cinema       Sun 3pm

The two-act solo performances feature Sister giving instruction to a roomful of “students” (the audience). Throughout the course of the class the benevolent instructor rewards the “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and other nifty prizes. Naughty students may well find themselves on stage sitting in a corner reflecting upon their actions.
Put the Nuns in Charge! In this sequel to the hit comedy, Late Nite Catechism, Sister is back in the classroom, but this time she's taking on everything from cell phones to celebrities. This is the funniest course in behavior you'll every take. www.putthenunsincharge.com Performances on Saturday at 5pm.
Sunday School Cinema: Good movie? Bad movie? Condemned movie? If you're confused, asked Sister. She knows the difference. Join this new class in its world premiere as Sister delves into the world of movies. Sister has something to say about all of the current movies, or, as she says it, "The filth that passes as entertainment today."www.sundayschoolcinema.com

  SIX NUNS, 17 YEARS AND A LOT OF SIN:

“LATE NITE CATECHISM”

CELEBRATES ITS 17TH YEAR WITH ONE SPECIAL PERFORMANCE FEATURING

SIX OF THE WOMEN WHO HAVE PLAYED “SISTER”

LATE NITE CATECHISM began as an idea for a stand-up comedy routine and morphed into a full-blown play, which now celebrates its 17th year in production, playing every Thursday and Saturday night in Chicago at the Royal George Theatre.

Celebrating this anniversary, on SATURDAY, MAY 30th AT 8PM at the ROYAL GEORGE THEATRE, six of the  actresses who have “ruled” the room as “Sister” will share the performance in what is normally a one-woman show.

* Lisa Buscani

* Mary Zentmyer

* Rosie Newton

* Liz Cloud

* Lisa Braatz

and

* Margaret Kustermann will all play “Sister” for this special show: three in Act One, and three in Act Two.

“The idea is to show the audience the versatility of these actresses,” says co-author Vicki Quade. “ I’ve always said you can see the show several times and see a different performance each time. Once they don the habit, each actress brings a little something special to her own interpretation of Sister, as well as a different approach – and reproach –to the audience.”

In 1993, Vicki Quade brought to life an idea that Chicago actress Maripat Donovan wanted to perform. Donovan was fascinated with the lives of the saints and wanted to do a standup comedy routine and approached Quade to write a short skit for her.

Instead, Quade developed the idea and expanded it into the comedy wonder, LATE NITE CATECHISM, which both Quade and Donovan thought would appeal only to their friends and family, and have a run of only a few weeks. Instead, appealing to many and of all religions, LATE NITE CATECHISM has been running in Chicago since 1993, (since 2000 at the Royal George Theatre) and has turned into a national and international hit, with extensive runs in 150 cities in the U.S. as well as in England, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and Malaysia.

In addition, Quade has two sequels that also are running at the Royal George. Put the Nuns in Charge! is starting its fifth year and Sunday School Cinema is starting its third year, both also running weekends at the Royal George.

The shows have also helped to raise retirement funds for various orders of Sisters who are not supported by the Archdiocese. Over the past dozen years, more than $2 million has been raised by LATE NITE CATECHISM (through donations by audience members) and donated to various orders of nuns nationwide. For her work raising awareness of the plight of retired Sisters, Vicki Quade received the Spirit of Benedict Award in 2003 from the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago, and, in 2005, she was given a Partners in Mission Award by the Sisters of the Living Word in Arlington Heights.
